Declan is an Associate in the Newcastle Workers Compensation Team at Hicksons Lawyers.
Declan practices in personal injury law, primarily representing Respondents/Defendants in Statutory Workers Compensation and Work Injury Damages claims. He has also practiced law in Superannuation Insurance/TPD claims, Criminal matters, Wills and Estates, and Employment law and Industrial Relations.
Declan’s expertise includes advising on complex statutory interpretation and case law precedents including transitional provisions and complex weekly benefits claims. He has extensive experience in advising on complex litigated and non-litigated workers compensation matters where he has also acted on behalf of insurer clients in requesting further and better particulars from applicants. He also has experience in responding on behalf of insurer clients to various other applications lodged by applicants in the Personal Injury Commission.
Declan has a Juris Doctor from the University of Newcastle and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Technology Sydney.
In February 2020, Declan was admitted into the Supreme Court of NSW.
