Stewart is Managing Partner of Hicksons and leads the firms’ Worker Insurance practice. Stewart’s extensive experience, commitment and passion to the business will be instrumental in driving the firm’s 2025 Strategic Vision.
Appointed as Managing Partner on 1 January 2020, Stewart is leading the firm to deliver on changing client requirements. In an increasingly competitive and global environment for clients, Hicksons is responding through the firm’s 2025 Strategic Vision, building on the firm’s current service offering to provide a range of advisory services. Stewart is committed to a more holistic service offering being underpinned with the ongoing development of a culture of people excellence and innovation.
As head of the Worker Insurance practice, Stewart’s client-centric approach calls on more than 30 years’ experience advising and representing insurers, scheme agents, specialised insurers and employers in relation to statutory insurance issues, common law claims, employment law, work health and safety matters and recoveries.
With a focus on dispute resolution and arbitration, Stewart works to enable compliance and performance, liaising closely with all the stakeholders involved, and focusing on getting people back to work as quickly as possible.
Stewart’s strong knowledge of the insurance industry and an in-depth understanding of his clients’ business, culture and social motivations, enables him to advise on ways to pro-actively address issues which might lead to legal complications.
Stewart holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws and began with Hicksons in 1987. He is admitted to practice in NSW and the ACT and is a member of Australian Insurance Law Association.
