Legal Assistant , Medical Negligence, Sydney 

We are looking for a full-time Legal Assistant to join our growing Health practice group.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the administrative needs of the Health practice group and will  manage client deadlines through the Legal Panel Gateway. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Accepting client instructions and managing the legal portal
  • Saving documents from legal portal into FileSite
  • Arranging registration of new matters
  • Legal research
  • Generation of correspondence, legal documents and preparation of briefs for counsel
  • Maintenance of matter files
  • Word processing and formatting of dictations
  • General administration duties and data entry

This is a great opportunity for a self-starter to work in a team environment with exposure to a range of matters.  The successful candidate will be keen to learn more about working in a law firm will have an eye for detail and will be able to use their initiative to propose innovative process improvements.   You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, and the ability to demonstrate initiative and willingness to assist where required.

Practice Manager/EA, General Insurance, Sydney

We are looking for an experienced EA/Practice Manager to join our General Insurance practice group to manage the group's client base and ensure efficient delivery of legal advice and services.

Reporting to the Practice Group Leader, you will also be responsible for providing secretarial support to the General Insurance practice group and will act as the central point of contact for all operational departments. Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage communication between the practice group and all business units including implementing and monitoring new firm procedures and raising any issues as necessary
  • Produce all client invoices including monthly billing process and data processing of all staff timesheets and client disbursements
  • Use of innovative practices to propose best practice alternatives and drive team efficiencies
  • Responsible for all client related reporting, ensuring procedures and guidelines are met
  •  Monitor due dates for reports from experts and follow-up outstanding reports/documents
  • Coordinate monthly team meetings and follow-up action items
  • Word processing / typing and collating correspondence and other documents, amending and formatting documents quickly and accurately
  • Prepare files, draft legal documents, court documents and correspondence
  • Complex diary management ensuring all diary conflicts are resolved
  • Billing including time entry, preparation and review of draft bills
  • Additional duties as required

An opportunity to grow our Corporate Commercial team has arisen and we are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified lawyer with 3+ years PQE. You will work within a highly collaborative team and will be exposed to a range of general commercial and corporate work including IT, procurement and privacy.  You will be expected to draft well (not using precedents) and be able to assist Partners and Senior Lawyers in negotiating and structuring deals.

The ideal candidate would have the following experience:

  • Drafting IT agreements (such as licensing, hardware acquisition, outsourcing)  for corporate and government clients
  • Negotiating IT agreements with suppliers and those procuring services
  • A high level of mathematical skills to be able to help structure complex deals
  • Advising on procurement processes for corporate and government clients
  • Plain English drafting

  • Ability to provide clear advice and deal with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors throughout the transaction
  • Ability to manage and sustain client relationships
