Having practiced for more than 40 years, Alan is acknowledged as one of NSW’s leading litigators and has extensive experience in representing and advising employers, insurers, property owners and occupiers in insurance litigation and commercial disputes.

He has advised clients on a wide range of mortgage lending, partnership and consumer contractual disputes and has significant experience in advising on statutory interpretation, contracts and insurance policies, mortgage lenders insurance, professional indemnity and re-insurance of statutory liability and other risks.

Alan has extensive experience acting in special inquiries and has advised clients called before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and before special commissions of inquiry and the Australian Crime Commission, the Jackson Medical Research and Compensation Foundation inquiry. He has represented three police officers in the inquiry into the disappearance of anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay and a council employee in the ICAC inquiry into Wollongong City Council’s property developments.

Alan has acted for the NSW Bar Association for over 20 years. 

Alan's expertise in dust disease spans industries such as transport, power and gas generation, construction, demolition, steveforing and whitegoods. 

A member of Hicksons since 1967, Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws and is admitted to practice in NSW, the ACT, Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
