Jemma is a Senior Associate in Hicksons’ General Insurance team, with more than seven years of experience assisting insurers to resolve claims. She is an experienced insurance litigator across a broad range of areas including contractual disputes, property damage, product defects, public liability, aviation, professional negligence, policy coverage and indemnity disputes.
Jemma’s experience spans advising on the defence of complex multi-party property damage disputes, pursuing high value property damage subrogationed recoveries, acting for various professionals and organisations, including health practitioners and aged care facilities, defending liability matters involving catastrophic injuries, Compensation to Relatives Act claims and assisting in coronial inquests. Jemma also regularly advises on dual insurance and complex indemnity and policy coverage disputes.
Jemma has practiced and appeared in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, the District, Supreme, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court of NSW. Jemma also has experience in advising in jurisdictions throughout Australia.
Jemma was awarded a Juris Doctor from the University of Technology in 2012 and was admitted to practice in NSW in 2012. Prior to that, Jemma was awarded a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle in 2007, and thereafter, practiced as a physiotherapist for five years in NSW public hospitals.
