The partners of Hicksons are pleased to announce the appointment of senior practitioner Bernard Evans as Consultant to the firm’s Corporate and Commercial practice group.

Hicksons Managing Partner John Markos said, “we are delighted that a lawyer of Bernard’s standing and reputation is joining us. Bernard’s experience of almost 30 years in the areas of corporate and commercial law, trade practices and competition law, and mining and resources law will significantly enhance our capacity and range of service offerings to our clients.”

Bernard will align with our practice groups in Corporate and Commercial transactions, Professional Responsibility and Ethics, and Transport and Trade.

Bernard has specialist expertise in the following areas:

• competition, consumer protection and product liability law
• designing, developing and implementing trade practices compliance programs
• corporate restructures
• mining and resources joint ventures
• acquisitions and sales of resource projects
• agribusiness, especially for crop protection and biotechnology companies
• pharmaceutical law and advice.

Bernard is also a Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame and lectures in Trade Practices, Company Law and Ethics.
His clients include a range of companies in the resources, mining, agricultural, chemical, liquor and aviation sectors as well as industry associations.

Bernard joins Hicksons after 19 years as Partner, and most recently as Consultant, with a large commercial law firm in Sydney.

His qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. He was admitted to practice in 1982.
