Karen Kumar
Special Counsel - Insurance

Karen is an experienced insurance lawyer, specialising in the health sector. She recently joined Hicksons Insurance team and prior to joining had spent time in legal practice and in-house with insurers.

Karen represents health professionals and clinics in civil, coronial and disciplinary matters. Her expertise in liability insurance involves public and general liability claims on instruction from insurers as well as claims made under industrial special risk policies.

Karen, who holds a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours), commenced with Hicksons in October 2011. She is admitted to practice in New South Wales. Karen is also a sessional lecturer at Notre Dame University in Sydney where she teaches on the legal component of Ethics and the Law to the Nursing Faculty.
