Justine Matthews
Partner - Workplace Relations

Justine has more than 16 years experience in workplace relations, OH&S and insurance law. She advises employer clients on all manner of workplace issues arising under various legislation, in particular Fair Work Act2009 and Occupational Health and Safety Act (NSW) 2000.

Justine’s experience extends to drafting and amending all manner of workplace agreements for individuals and enterprises. She has defended allegations of unfair and unlawful dismissal, represented bodies in respect of claims of adverse action and issued proceedings to enforce restraint of trade agreements. She has assisted employers develop and update their workplace policies.

She also has significant experience in many areas of insurance law, and has represented insurers and public and private sector employers in the District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales.

Justine, who holds a Bachelor of Laws, is currently undertaking a Masters of Laws (specialising in industrial relations). She commenced with Hicksons as a Partner in November 2010 and is admitted to practice in New South Wales.
