In the cut and thrust property market, acting with certainty and speed is critical. Our Property and Finance team is recognised for its quick grasp of clients’ commercial objectives and the associated legal and commercial issues.

We offer individuals, developers, contractors, landlords, tenants and financiers practical advice and solutions such as:

  • interpreting and enforcing contractual rights and obligations, including leases, contracts for sale and option contracts
  • facilitating the sale, purchase, lease and development of property
  • preparing tender and expression of interest documentation 
  • undertaking due diligence through conveyancing, including providing advice on title issues such as covenants, limitations, restrictions, easements and zoning
  • identifying options to better structure the sale and purchase of commercial, domestic, industrial and rural property, and
  • documenting financial transactions, including loan agreements, mortgages and collateral securities.


Highlights of our property work 

We have acted in numerous large and small residential, industrial, commercial and rural property matters for both the private and public sector, including advising:

  • on a $50 million industrial site in western Sydney, its subsequent subdivision and sale including advice on contamination issues
  • on the acquisition of a $25 million site for development of a shopping centre, cinema, residential units and hotel
  • on the acquisition of a $12 million industrial site in western Sydney as part of a joint venture between a developer and a large energy corporation for a commercial/industrial development, which included negotiating a joint venture agreement
  • lessors on a 20 year lease of substantial industrial premises in western Sydney to a major US car parts manufacturer; a 15 year lease of major manufacturing premises in western Sydney to a steel components producer; and a 20 year lease of large warehouse and office facility in north-west Sydney to an international pharmaceutical company
  • on acquisition of large areas of land on the NSW north coast on behalf of a NSW department for dedication as a national park
  • a NSW department on a conflict between terms of a Sydney council’s local environment plan and a restrictive covenant regarding harbourside land, and
  • a NSW department on asbestos on their properties.
